Hot off the press :-

Italian scooter manufacturer, Malaguti and The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards 2001 are teaming up for the biggest hip-hop event of the year to take place in Miami.

Malaguti will be the official scooter of the award show, marking the company's first year of involvement with the Source Awards. One of the most visible examples of the Source/Malaguti partnership will be a team of Source Award customized scooters assisting in local promotion of the event. Malaguti, a leading scooter company in Italy since 1930, was recently introduced into the US market by a group of young, entrepreneurs from the University of Florida. The college grads realized the huge potential for an American scooter market and set out to embrace their target audience by ensuring an incredible amount of street credibility. In Italy, Malaguti is synonymous with quality. They use the latest techniques in design, research, and development to produce some of the best scooters. Malaguti USA Vice President Chris Esposito calls the scooters "the cutting edge of what's hot" and explains that they provide "inexpensive, fuel-efficient, reliable transportation with a free-spirited, sporty style."

The scooter trend has caught on in Miami, becoming a convenient means of transportation for locals and tourists. While Miami plays host to the biggest names in the hip-hop community, Malaguti will be the vehicle of choice for one of this years most talked about musical acts, OutKast. Andre 3000 and Big Boi of the "So Fresh, So Clean" duo will be riding around South Beach on Malaguti scooters, along with their two bodyguards. OutKast is nominated for Album of the Year Stankonia, Single of the Year "Ms. Jackson", Artist of the Year, Live Performer of the Year, and Video of the Year "B.O.B".

In addition to being one of the sponsor's for The 2001 Source Hip-Hop Music Awards, Malaguti will also be involved with various events in Miami preceding the award ceremony. Malaguti's approach to target a diverse youth-driven market has resulted in promotions ranging from Playboy Spring Break, and E!'s Wild On series to the upcoming Ducati World Weekend in Nevada.

The Source Enterprises is a multimedia entertainment holding company with a publishing division, TV/Film division, and a music compilation division. The corporation also established The Source Youth Foundation to assist non-profit organizations serving at-risk urban youth in America. The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards will tape on Monday, August 20 at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami and will broadcast on Tuesday, August
28 from 8-10 pm on UPN. The first Source Hip-Hop Music Awards were held in 1994 in New York. Since then, it has been regarded as the biggest night in hip-hop music.
